Flooring installation in Maple Ridge
WoodPro Flooring is based at 24245 102 Ave, so Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows are the shortest trips we make. What a floor needs underneath depends on where in the city you live. A newer house in Silver Valley, an older one in Hammond and an acreage out past Websters Corners are three different jobs, even when the floor going down is the same.
The floor Danny advertises is a 12mm AC4 waterproof laminate, supplied and delivered. AC ratings run from 1 to 5 and measure how well the surface stands up to wear and knocks; AC4 covers every room in a busy house, entries and main floors included. At 12mm it's at the thick end of what's sold, which usually makes it feel more solid and sound less hollow than a thinner board. Samples are available. If you can, look at them in the room they're for, because a floor's colour can shift a lot between daylight and lamplight.
Crawlspaces on acreage
Out toward Websters Corners and Whonnock, many older homes sit over vented crawlspaces that can stay damp through the winter, and that moisture works its way up into the subfloor. Laminate has a wood-fibre core, and its waterproof rating is about spills on top, not damp coming up from below. If your crawlspace has bare soil, standing water or blocked vents, get that sorted before the new floor goes in. It isn't flooring work, but it decides how long the floor lasts.
Humps as well as dips in Hammond
Hammond is one of the oldest parts of Maple Ridge, and a floor that has carried a house for decades rarely stays flat. The problem isn't always a dip. Where the outside walls have settled more than the beam down the middle, a room can have a hump through the centre and fall away toward the edges. A dip can be filled with levelling compound. A hump can't be filled: it has to be taken down, or the floor around it built up to meet it. Both show up when a long straightedge is laid across the floor, which is worth doing before any price is agreed.
Long open-plan rooms in Silver Valley and Albion
Newer homes here usually have flat, sound subfloors and long open main floors, with kitchen, dining and living in one run. A floating floor expands and shrinks as one piece, and many products limit how long a run can be before it needs an expansion break, usually a strip of trim across the floor. Where that break goes is a decision for the measure, not for install day. In a doorway you'll hardly notice it. In the middle of the great room, you will. Some rigid-core vinyl plank allows longer runs than a typical laminate, which can tip the choice on a big open floor.
